About

Refugee and Immigrant Self Empowerment’s (RISE) Steuben St Garden was the 3rd garden added to RISE’s Agriculture program. It was built in 2022 and was available to host gardeners beginning in 2023. This space provides New American farmers with the skills and resources to grow and sell culturally appropriate foods in CNY. In addition to this garden, RISE’s Agriculture Program includes 2 other community gardens, and a large vegetable farm in Oswego County. Currently, the Steuben St Garden hosts 3 gardeners from 3 different countries, who use the garden to grow food for their families in the raised beds on site, though RISE anticipates the garden will grow in number of participants as it continues to become further established each year.
