About

The Upstate Community Garden was an initiative started through Upstate’s Sustainability Task Force in 2009. Now for more than a decade, students have been actively involved in maintaining the garden every year during summer. The Upstate Physical Plant has always been instrumental with the initial garden set-up. In 2015 the garden became a member garden of Syracuse Grows, who has been supporting us by providing us with seedlings, compost, and other garden resources. In 2020, the Upstate Community & Wellness Garden became a site for one of the Service Learning Programs by Upstate’s Center for Civic Engagement where we will be working with Upstate Pathway to Wellness to promote health and wellness through gardening. Any member of the Upstate community can get involved with the garden.
