In the shade of the Stone Soup Community Garden, Syracuse Grows, NOFA-NY, and the Cornell Cooperative Extension sponsored the first Gardening Workshop of the summer for local gardeners in the area. Karen Kerney led the workshop, presenting her garden knowledge to combat weeds and pests holistically. Community members and gardeners snacked on local and organic refreshments, shared gardening stories, identified weeds in the community garden, and learned many valuable gardening tricks for growing a healthy garden. The workshop also discussed natural solutions to ward off pests, conversed about companion planting, and then dug their hands in the raised beds of the Stone Soup Community Garden to help weed!
